I am honored to support East Texans living with dementia, their caregivers, and our community impacted by this devastating disease. Before joining the Alliance staff in June 2016, I served as the director of community outreach and as the public information officer for the Northeast Texas Public Health District. I've also been recently involved with the Junior League of Tyler, the Texas 211 Advisory Board, and the Tyler Fit City Challenge Steering Committee. I'm a Lindale native and alum of Baylor University, and I currently live in Tyler with my husband and our four children.
Luanne Harms, LCSW : Community Education Director

Luanne Harms, LCSW

Community Education Director
Luanne is a Licensed Master Social Worker with academic concentration in Mental Health, Alzheimer’s and various other types of Dementia. Luanne also has several years of experience serving those in hospitals, senior living, and hospice care, she is a passionate advocate for senior adults and meeting their care needs. Luanne has several certifications in dementia care, she is a Teepa Snow Positive Approach master trainer, Dementia Caregiver specialist and Texas Oasis Dementia trainer. Luanne an East Texas native and graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University.
Jamie Huff : Program Director

I graduated with a bachelor's degree in Public Relations from Oklahoma Baptist University and invested in nonprofit work my entire career. Along with raising three wonderful children with my husband, I have great compassion for working with and on behalf of individuals with dementia and their caregivers. I joined the Alliance staff in 2006 and lead our Day Club program, support groups, and other programs and services for our clients.

I am very excited to be a part of the Alzheimer’s Alliance organization. Before working at the Alliance, I worked for Tyler ISD. I have always had a passion for helping people of all ages. I have worked in non-profit before and I am so thankful to get involved once again. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from UT Tyler. I have been married to my husband for 15 years and we have two beautiful children.

Programs Assistant/Community Health Worker
As a Certified Community Health Worker for the past 5 years, I have worked with many families to help educate and empower them on issues that we face in our communities. I am dedicated to helping The Alzheimer’s Alliance in any way that I can to bring awareness to the importance of education and support for families who are taking care of a loved one affected by Alzheimer’s or other dementias. I am a Tyler native, graduate of Chapel Hill High School and the proud mother of two sons.
Kathy McCabe : Counseling Intern

Counseling Intern
I am very happy to be part of the Alzheimer’s Alliance of Smith County. Throughout the past six years, I have volunteered at The Hospice of East Texas, served on church councils, and completed my master’s degree in counseling. After a year internship with the Alliance, my desire to continue working with those affected by Dementia, is even stronger. I am a Tyler native, have an identical twin sister, been married to Brian for 31 years, and we have three wonderful sons. I look forward to visiting with you.
Maggie Edwards : Social Worker

Maggie Edwards

Social Worker
I am proud to be a member of the Alzheimer’s Alliance staff. I enjoy assisting persons and their families as they face the challenges of Alzheimer’s and dementia. I consider it a privilege to work in this capacity. I received my bachelors degree from LSU Monroe and attended LSU Baton Rouge. I have my LBSW license and case management certification. I have a great deal of experience in hospital social work and case management.
